Today, Sunday, September 26, at 3:31 p.m. Evanston Police Department responded to the 2000 block of Wesley Avenue after a 911 call of a person shot and another person stabbed, according to EPD Spokesperson Commander Ryan Glew.

Upon arrival, officers found a person who had suffered a gun shot wound and another with stab wounds.

The investigation indicates that the shooting and stabbing are related incidents, according to Commander Glew.

Both victims were transported to an area hospital by the Evanston Fire Department.

The gunshot victim, 45-year-old Van T. Ross of Naperville, has died.

The stabbing victim, a 27-year-old male resident of Chicago, is in stable condition.

The Evanston Police Detective Bureau and North Regional Major Crimes Task Force are investigating. This does not appear to be a random act. No suspects are presently in custody.
