Hello Dear Evanston! Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre here! Our Black History 24 / 7 / 365 events continue today and we have some wonderful programming for you all to watch!


Tune in tonight at 7 PM and learn more about Black Women in the Culinary Arts featuring Chef Q, a nationally renowned caterer and proprietor of Teertsemasesottehg Supper Club. She opens up about her cooking and service styles, plus the influences motivating her to culinary and business success. This interview was conducted by Shorefront Legacy Center's Dino Robinson.

The Ancestral Stories Black Storytellers Tell


Tuesday, Feb 9 - Dr. Stephanie Davenport shares the West African inspired story, The Seven Spools of Thread that illustrates the lesson of the Ethiopian proverb, "when spiders unite, they can tie up a lion" or who benefits most when people work together to overcome an obstacle. This event is in partnership with the Evanston Public Library.


Glorious Sounds: Experiencing The Black Influence In Music


Thursday, Feb 11 - Carl Alexander, musician, singer, and educator, speaks on and demonstrates the Black influence in classical, operatic and protest music. Mr. Alexander is an amazing singer and musical historian, who presents a powerful and compelling narrative.


Colorful Visions: Exploring the Works and Processes of Black Visual Artists


Friday, Feb 12 - Nadine Yadi Royster is a masterful painter, sculptor and Teaching Artist. Art Encounter's Co-founder and Artistic Director, Joanna Pinsky, talks to “Yadi” about her creative processes and philosophy in making and teaching art. This Black History 24 / 7 / 365 event is in partnership with Art Encounter.
